The predecessor of this Center was the “Center for Interdisciplinary Innovation and Applications of Artificial Intelligence,” which operated under the Office of Research and Development. Its primary mission was to promote interdisciplinary research integration and industry-academia collaboration.

With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence technologies, the University's AI-related needs have shifted from a research-oriented focus toward institutionalized, service-oriented, and university-wide support. The scope of AI applications has also expanded to include teaching, administrative processes, and university governance.

To address these evolving needs, the Artificial Intelligence Teaching and Application Development Center (AI Teaching and Application Development Center; hereinafter referred to as the AI Center) integrates its services with the existing information infrastructure, system operations and maintenance, cybersecurity governance, and digital service capabilities of the Office of Library and Information Services. Through this integration, the Center serves as a one-stop service platform for AI applications across the University, enhancing resource utilization efficiency while ensuring service stability and sustainability.

The AI Center's core missions are to:

• Assist university units in developing and applying AI technologies.
• Support faculty members in teaching innovation and research development.

Without compromising the priority of university services, the Center also appropriately extends professional AI-related services to nearby industries and communities, establishing a university-level AI development platform that combines institutional support, teaching innovation, and application promotion.
